Destination Wedding Ireland
I loved being the wedding photographer at Aoife and Francis’ destination wedding in Ireland at the wonderful Glenlo Abbey Hotel in Galway. The couple live in the USA but came home to Ireland to get married.
A dip and some gardening to start the day
On the morning of the wedding, Francis and his groomsmen braved the weather and cold water to jump off the pier at Salthill before having breakfast and getting suited. Aoife and her bridal party had a relaxed and fun morning getting ready at her parent’s home with hair stylist, Collette Costello and make-up artist, Fiona taking care of everyone’s beauty needs. To mark the day of the wedding, the bride and her parents headed outside before getting dressed to plant a rose bush in the garden of their family home – a beautiful symbol of the couple’s love.
Creative style
Aoife’s dad, who is a talented artist, designed the invitations and order of service cards for the wedding. The ceremony took place in the magnificent Galway Cathedral which was decorated with flowers by Ardilaun Creations. After the service, the couple took off in style in a sporty blue Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.
Back to where it all began
Because the couple met while studying at NUIG they thought it fitting that we should take some couple’s portraits at the Quadrangle Building of the university where they spent a lot of their early days together. The stunning building covered in bright red ivy provided an amazing backdrop.
The meal was followed by traditional music and Irish dancing by the bridesmaids. Then wedding band, the Bentley Boys, took to the stage, getting everyone up on the floor to dance the night away.
The videographer capturing all the action on the day was Berg and Giles.
